A Christmas Carol
2nd grade, primary - all audiences
Back due to popular demand Face 2 Face's production of A Christmas Carol re-opens on December 2016 at the Teatro Luchana. A family show for English speaking audiences (and not so English speaking either!) Since Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol first appeared in 1843, it has become so popular that is hard to imagine Christmas without it. The story immediately inspired theatrical adaptations (the first just a few months after its publication), and since then has been produced at theatres around the world in hundreds of different forms, and inspired films, cartoons and television programs. Face 2 Face Theatre Co.'s adaptation brings a whole new comical twist to this timeless tale. Set in Victorian London, where the privileged in their fancy parlours prosper, while the poor struggle to survive, A Christmas Carol speaks to all ages as it tells the tale of the cynical Ebeneezer Scrooge. With a heart hardened by a tragic childhood and lost love, Scrooge would rather Christmas never came around to disrupt his money grabbing ways… until he gets a nightmarish series of wake-up calls from the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Face 2 Face's much loved production captures A Christmas Carol's magic and humour and will have you rolling in the aisles as well as reflecting on the joy of giving. With its evocative songs, clever improvisations, hilarious gags and magical stagecraft it's the perfect holiday season treat for everyone. Although this show is aimed at English speakers, Face 2 Face's particular style of acting based on physical theatre, mime, and slapstick comedy makes this version of A Christmas Carol accessible to spectators whose level of English is only above average... So if you want to see your grumpy Spanish in laws smile this is the place to take them!
